This week on Transit Accessible Attractions we will be talking about the Exploratorium.

The Exploratorium is located on the Embarcadero at Green Street, in San Francisco, CA. Formally located at the Palace of Fine Arts, the museum is now housed on Pier 15 and Pier 17. The museum offers some of the best and most fascinating exhibits and displays in the Bay Area. The Exploratorium features tools, exhibits, objects, galleries and much, much more. The museum also offers food and drink at the Seismic Joint and the Seaglass Restaurant, both of which are inspired by the exhibit Color of Water.

There are many ways to reach the Exploratorium by transit. If you are riding MUNI, the F-Market Streetcar Line stops right in front of the museum at Embarcadero and Green Street. If you are riding the bus, MUNI Lines 2, 6, 14, 21, and 31 all stop within walking distance to the Exploratorium. MUNI Metro Lines J, K, L, M, T, and N also stop near the museum.

Embarcadero Station, which serves both BART and MUNI, is a 15-minute walk from the Exploratorium, as well as ferry terminals at the Ferry Building.

Most AC Transit lettered lines (lettered lines are lines that enter San Francisco) terminate at the Temporary Transbay Terminal, which is a 20-minute walk away.

The San Francisco Bay Ferry terminates at the Ferry Building. The Ferry provides access to Vallejo, Alameda Main Street, Harbor Bay, and Jack London Square in Oakland. The Ferry also departs South San Francisco/Oyster Point ferry terminal and arrives at the Ferry Building later on.

Golden Gate Transit Bus Lines 10, 70, 80, 101, and 101x provide access to  the Ferry Building. The Golden Gate Ferry goes between Larkspur and Sausalito, eventually arriving at the Ferry Building as well. The Blue and Gold Fleet operates between Tiburon and Sausalito, before also arriving at the Ferry Building.

If you are planning to take CalTrain to SF, exit at Fourth and King Streets and transfer to MUNI Metro Lines T or N, which will take you to Embarcadero Station. SamTrans Route 292 terminates at the Temporary Transbay Terminal.

The Exploratorium has so many options to get there, practically any public transit agency that operates in San Francisco will take you next or near the museum.

Stay tuned next week to find out which attraction we'll feature next!
